Blackberry Virgin Mojito

Ingredients
  

  • 6-8 black Berries (plus extra for garnish)
  • 8-10 Fresh mint leaves (plus extra for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons sugar or simple syrup
  • ¾ cups sparkling water or club soda
  • 1 cup ice

  • lime wedge
  • additional mint sprig

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Gather the ingredients and prepare your glass
    Prepare a glass or shaker, and gather your ingredients. A sturdy glass will do just fine for muddling and sipping, but a cocktail shaker will help you avoid the bits of berries and mint if you want it smooth.
  • Step 2: Muddle the blackberries and mint
    Now all we do is add some blackberries and a sprig of fresh mint leaves to the bottom of a glass. We gently crush the berries and mint against the sides of the glass using a muddler, or the back of a spoon. This will press the flavors out into the juices that begin your mojito.
  • Step 3: Add lime juice and sweetener
    Add a sour taste by squeezing in fresh lime juice. You can then proceed to add one to two teaspoons of sugar or simply a tablespoon of simple syrup, depending on your preference. Stir well to mix the flavors together.
  • Step 4: Add ice and top with sparkling water
    Add ice to a glass, filling it about three quarters full. Top with sparkling water or club soda-its bubbles and lightness will make the drink sparkle. Stir gently to incorporate all the flavors.
  • Step 5: Garnish and serve
    Finish off with some more blackberries, sprigs of fresh mint and lemon wedges on the glass for that final touch. It gives quite a decorative look to the drink, but also heightens the aromatic taste feel. Serve immediately and enjoy sipping your refreshing Blackberry Virgin Mojito.
