Main ingredients

  • 1.5 pound Green beans
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Toppings

  • 1 cup crispy fried onion
  • ½ cup bread crumbs (optional)
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese (optional)

Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Nutmeg (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Prepare the Green Beans
    1. Fresh green beans have to be trimmed off from the end, soaked in boiling water for 3-4 minutes. After it cools, it will be set aside.
    2. Frozen beans will be thawed first, then drained. If in can, drained and washed them.
  • Step 2: Cream Cheese Sauce
    1. Using a big skillet and placed over medium heat; a tablespoon of butter needs to be melted.
    2. Add minced garlic into it. Continue to sauté till fragrant.
    3. Add the cream cheese and cream of mushroom soup and mix well until smooth.
    4. Slowly add the milk to get the desired sauce consistency.
  • Step 3: Mix and Assemble
    1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    2. In a big mixing bowl, combine the green beans with the cream cheese sauce. Mix well until they are coated evenly.
    3. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Step 4: Add the toppings
    1. Sprinkle crispy fried onions on top.
    2. Add a twist by including breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese before the onions.
  • Step 5: Bake to Perfection
    1. Bake in a preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole starts to bubble.
